The Oxleyan area was originally described by Iredale (1937) as a terrestrial sub-area part of the Euronotian. Kott (1952) creates the Oxlyean sub-region that extends from “Port Jackson to Moreton Bay, in an area corresponding to Iredale's Oxleyan sub-area” (Kott 1952: 324).
